Breakfast Club

Ongar Primary School Breakfast Club aims to provide pupils of all ages with a safe and fun place to start their school day. Breakfast Club is open to all pupils and we will do our best to accommodate the needs of your child. If your child has special needs/disabilities and requires extra support, please discuss this with the school office.

The club is informal and friendly, allowing children a choice as to how they start the day: some children like to wake up slowly, others prefer to get on and play. The club provides free play area and the use of the ICT suite. Play, rather than education, is at the heart of the club.

Each morning a nutritious breakfast is provided. The children are encouraged to help themselves, sit down and talk together, and then clear up their dishes: the idea is that our breakfast replicates as far as possible the atmosphere of a family meal. At the end of the session, the children are well fed, happy and ready to learn.

COST - Breakfast Club has a fixed cost of £1.00 per session, which includes a choice of breakfast and activities. The cost does not change depending on the time you arrive or if you choose not to have breakfast with us. Payment is to be made to the school office in advance.  We reserve the right to refuse your child at Breakfast Club if your fees are not paid.

Registration - Registration forms are available from the school office and completed forms should be returned to the office prior to your child's first session.  Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis .

Parents also have the flexibility to book ad-hoc sessions through the school office, where places are available.

Opening Times - Breakfast club is open from 7.45-8.50am every weekday during term time (excluding Inset days). Your child(ren) can be dropped off at any time between these times via the school side door, leading into the school hall.

We serve breakfast until 8.30am. Please ensure your child arrives in plenty of time if you wish them to eat with us.

Registration - Each morning a register is taken of the children attending Breakfast Club, this gives us an accurate record of attendees.

Food - A variety of cereal, bread and jams are availalbe everyday as well as fruit juice and milk.

Everyday we offer:

  • A choice of cereals
  • Toast with a selection of spreads (e.g. Jams, Marmite, Honey and Marmalade)
