Task:

1 star:

Today you are going to write a short paragraph as if you are Dylan in the rainforest. You’re going to include three fronted adverbials to your writing.

 

2 star:

Today you are going to write a setting description for Dylan sitting in the rainforest. You’re going to use a variety of fronted adverbials to link your sentences together with cohesion.

 

3 star:

Today you going to write a setting description for Dylan sitting in the rainforest. You are going to use a variety of Fronted adverbials as well as a variety of sentence types. Think about complex and compound sentences.

 

My example:

Unfortunately, it was another stiflingly humid day in the rainforest. Thankfully, the rain was a welcome and refreshing break from it. All of a sudden, Dylan could hear a rumble of distant thunder: a sure sign that this was just the beginning of the storm. Holding a large leaf over himself, he sat comfortably on the tree stump. Raindrops drummed on the flat surface of the leaf like impatient fingertips, but Dylan didn’t mind.

 

He stared into the forest, wondering when his companions would return...
